Interior Polished Surface Application & Grouting Recommendations

  1. Application

The material to be applied shall be stacked on a level surface with a maximum of 2 pallets on top of each other until the end of the installation process, and shall be covered with a waterproof material that provides adequate ventilation. The contractor shall ensure that the material stored at the construction site is protected from various damages, dust, dirt, chemicals, and other harmful substances. Damaged and defective materials shall be replaced by the contractor at no additional cost to the employer. Before the flooring coating is manufactured, the existing concrete floor surface will be swept and then cleaned by washing with pressurized water washing machines, and a minimum 3 cm thick leveling layer (1m³ washed and screened sand + 500kg cement + 0.290m³ water) will be spread on top. After the leveling layer manufacturing process is completed, the surface will be cleaned again to remove dust, dirt, etc. During the terrazzo tile application process and for 48 hours after application, the ambient temperature must not fall below +5º C.

  2. Floor Mortar

When preparing the mortar, TS EN 197-1 PÇ 42.5 Portland Cement, TS 706 EN 12620/AC, TS 2717 EN 13139 washed and screened natural sand, and TS 266 clean water free of harmful substances shall be used. The prepared mixture shall be mixed using a mortar mixing machine with a vertical mixer. The resulting 300–350 dose lightly moistened mortar will be spread on the leveled ground to a thickness of at least 2.50 cm and at most 4.00 cm and smoothed with a trowel. During this process, the slurry formed from the prepared cement-water mixture will be poured over the mortar and smoothed with a trowel.

  3. Installation

Terrazzo tiles shall be laid on the screed without delay and compacted using rubber-tipped mallets. The recommended 3mm joint between tiles must be formed evenly. The surface of the installed tiles shall be cleaned of any remaining cement and mortar residue using a damp cloth or brushes. It is recommended that the products in the installed area be soaked for 4 days and covered with nylon to cure, depending on weather conditions.
